Welcome to the Dillard Drive Elementary Music Page
My name is Dan Smith, and I am very excited to be serving again this
year as Music Specialist at Dillard Drive Elementary School during the
2011-2012 school year.
Here you will find information and materials related to our music program including music we use in our classroom for recorder and guitar, information on our grade-level musicals, and announcements about upcoming musical events.
Students in all grade levels throughout the year will be singing, playing various percussion and mallet instruments, practicing folk dances, and learning about music from a variety of historical periods and world cultures. We will emphasize reading music and text as part of our school’s efforts to enhance literacy skills across grade levels.
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be performing in the musical presentation A Kid’s Life during the month of December, as well as playing recorders and guitars in our music classes. Students in grades K, 1 and 2 will be performing in the musical presentation Goin' Buggy during the month of March.
